A Genetic Algorithm based Approach for Cost worthy Route Selection in Complex Supply Chain Architecture

AbstractIt is always a great challenge to select an optimal route in case of a complex supply chain architecture. The challenge lies in meeting the reverse condition of quality of service and money. As time is an important factor, choosing the optimal route in supply chain architecture often becomes the most vital. To automate the route finding, in this paper, we propose a model that resemble to a modern and a complete supply chain network. We intend to solve it with the Genetic Algorithm so that a route with least cost is derived. For experiment purpose, we have implemented our model on hypothetical consideration based scenario, in which the generation, cross over and mutation process of genetic algorithm of the whole proposed model exhibits the optimized values for different routes. The algorithm was implemented in a MATLAB based environment. To show the invincibility of the Genetic Algorithm, we have also compared the computational time of this algorithm with a reward based machine learning algorithm Q-learning. Simulation result shows that Genetic algorithm takes lesser computational time.   


Development of a Low-Cost 3D Interactive VR System using SBS 3D Display, VR Headset and Finger Posture Motion Tracking

Abstract With 3D virtual reality (VR) technology and game design developing rapidly, a growing number of research experts are becoming involved in the study of motion sensor interactions and VR headset devices. At present, headset devices easily cost up to hundreds or even thousands of dollars. As a general gaming accessory, the price point of these devices is quite high. To reduce the cost of gaming accessories, this study combined the most current and popular headset device, with motion sensor and 3D VR technology to develop a low-cost 3D interactive VR system. This system utilized Homido VR headset to carry a smartphone, and Leap Motion, the motion sensor, was used to track hand gesture changes.  Unity was used as the main 3D VR developmental environment to develop a 3D dart game system. To portray a realistic 3D environment, this system utilized Unity to develop the headset’s side-by-side (SBS) 3D image for the left and right eyes.  The SBS image for the left and right eyes was presented via the Homido VR headset equipped with the smartphone, allowing the user to gain a more immersive experience of the 3D dart game environment. The experiment results showed that while this system displayed SBS 3D game content to the users, they could use Leap Motion to manipulate 3D virtual objects instantaneously.  Thus, this system presents users with 3D real-time interactive experience via the head-mounted device.  

Multi-tenant Database Framework Validation and Implementation into an Expert System

Abstract - Expert Systems (ES) is a branch of Artificial Intelligence (AI) that makes extensive use of specialized knowledge to solve problems at the level of a human expert. It uses a computer program that represents and reasons with knowledge of some specialist subject with a view to solving problems or giving advice. These systems represent a programming methodology by which a computer can be instructed to perform tasks that were previously considered to require the intelligence of a human expert. The development of the Multi-Tenant Database (MTD) adoption framework involved the accumulation of extensive specialised knowledge of experts, hence there is a need for this to be implemented in an ES. This paper presents a forward chaining method used in the implementing of the MTD framework into an expert system. A free web-based expert system shell called ES-BUILDER was adopted. The framework was validated via a survey and analysed with the aid of SPSS software. The findings obtained from the validation procedure indicate that the framework is valuable and suitable for use in practice since the research shows that the majority of respondents accepted the research findings and recommendations for success. Likewise, the ES was also validated using a survey with the majority of participants accepting it and embraces the high level of its usability.
